Monster Mash: Between a Rock and a Hard Place EditionMonster Mash: Between a Rock and a Hard Place Edition

March 30th, 2012
You voted! Now it's time to break some rocks!! Amakna will be full of CRACKLERS from now until 7:30 AM (GMT+1) on Tuesday morning!

It's a server-wide invitation to PARTY!

We ran two polls, one here on Dofus.com, and one on our Official Facebook Page to ask YOU which of the three monsters that were suggested by players on the forums you wanted to hunt. The choices this month were Kitsous, Cracklers and Mastogobs. With one firm, clear voice, you said you wanted Cracklers. So this weekend, you can bring the mountains to their knees by smashing, cracking, and crumbling the rumbly rockslides of Cracklers that erupted all around the Amakna area!

It's also an occassion for the entire EN community to come together and hunt some awesome monsters for everyone's benefit! So while you're out there in Amakna this weekend, invite someone you don't know yet to join your group, help a newbie get a level, or just say "hi" to the other people you run into. There'll be plenty of monsters for everyone, it's ok to relax and share!

These monsters will be spawning in and around Amakna on Rushu, Rosal, Shika, Solar, Zatoishwan and Dark Vlad until the maintenance hits at about 7:30 AM on Tuesday morning. As you know, Cracklers tend to ignore anything that isn't actively trying to take a chisel to their knee, so they won't aggress you.

Don't forget, the Monster Mash is a community event where you suggest the monsters, then you get to pick the ones we spawn! If you have an idea for a monster you'd like to see on a future Monster Mash poll, suggest it on the forums!

Reaching out for The Zenith…Reaching out for The Zenith…

March 30th, 2012
A zenith is the point where an orbiting body reaches the peak of its arch from the point of view of an observer. It's high noon; the moment when the sun is the brightest and most illuminating.

The Zenith is a collection of experienced and well-rounded players who will be responsible for reading and collecting all of the opinions and input of our community about DOFUS, and then summarizing these opinions for the developers. They must be people of exceptional talents: curious, intelligent, diplomatic, eloquent, experts in English, respectful, and above all... they must love DOFUS.

The members of the Zenith will have the privilege of having their summaries of our community's opinion delivered directly to the development team, thanks to our new crew of amazing player translators who have already been recruited. With their help, we'll also be able to have more feedback directly from the developers, and that's always a good thing!

If you're interested in being one of these amazing, splendiforous people, check out the requirements and application form on our Zenith Recruitment profile.

Please don't post your application in this thread, or on in a comment on the profile. Make sure to use the Ankabox system to send your app.

Saint Potrick’s PlightSaint Potrick’s Plight

March 16th, 2012
Attend the tale of Saint Potrick's Plight,
He believed arachnees were a blight.
Leprechauns made him pay
to drive the spiders away,
But they came back the following night!
Pity poor Saint Potrick. He's been trying to rid Amakna of all its Arachnees for years with no lasting success. There's an admirable persistence in his struggle, though. This year, the great man was overheard discussing a plan to create a group of like-minded individuals called Invisible Arachnees. He's also formulating a story about the evils of arachnees that he plans to teach it to all of the birds in Amakna. He believes that he can raise awareness of the arachnees' villainy through the use of what he calls the "tweetersphere."

There's been some criticism of his efforts, considering that he insists on spending his Arachnee-elimination budget on hiring the notoriously unreliable Leprechauns to assist him. Oh sure, the Leprechauns get rid of the arachnees, but then who will get rid of the Leprechauns! They run amuk, dropping bags of kamas andturning people green!

This weekend, everyone will have a chance to take part in Saint Potrick's plight. From now until Tuesday morning, every arachnee in Amakna will be replaced with wee Leprechauns. Catch them quickly; they'll be gone before you know it!

This is also the last weekend to submit your entries for the Saint Potrick's Limerick Contest. The contest thread will close at 10 AM (GMT+1) on Tuesday morning!

Exploding Tofus FOR THE WINExploding Tofus FOR THE WIN

March 8th, 2012
Look, what's that, up in the sky? It's a Kwak... it's an Imp's Carrier... no! It's... it's a flock of EXPLODING TOFUS?!

The TOFUKAZE squadrons have been deployed! Now's your chance to take control of these feather powder kegs and win amazing prizes with the help of your friends!

Make room for an explosive new referral game that allows you to set up the bomb!
Tofukaze is the new game that allows you to win rare gifts by encouraging your friends to join you in DOFUS. Imagine grids and behind each square of that grid ... a gift is waiting for you!

Blast them open with the first thing you can get your hands on ... Tofus!

You’ll begin your adventure with one free Tofu to throw. That’s right,  all subscribers are entitled to at least one free Tofukaze attempt, just for being a member! Premium DOFUS members (those who have purchased the DOFUS Collector's Box) will also receive a second tofu, no charge.

Every time you refer a godfella (by godfella, we mean "any new subscriber"), you and your friend will receive an extra tofu to throw. It'll be like you're Adam and Jamie from Mythbusters, partners in making things explode FOR SCIENCE! (The science of winning lots of cool stuff, that is...)

At the start of this new game, you’ll have access to two possible grids to destroy:

-   The Godfather’s Fortune Grid : This grid brings you all the gifts that were available through the original Godfather’s Fortune game… Including the Armored Dragoturkey!

-    The Feathered Grid : This grid is hiding fluffy new prizes for you, including the Feathered Dragoturkey!

Sponsors who have accumulated referral prizes for the past several years should know that the gifts obtained in the Godfather's Fortune game can also be acquired in the new TOFUKAZE game!

So you will maintain your lead on all of the other Godfathers out there and above all... you'll still be able to enjoy your rewards!!

But when is it coming, you ask?

RIGHT NOW! It's time to gather your Tofus and make 'em go boom!

Saint Potrick’s Limerick ContestSaint Potrick’s Limerick Contest

March 7th, 2012
This Saint Potrick's Day, we are offering you a very special contest. We're asking you to write a DOFUS Limerick to win one of the most exclusive prizes ever offered in the English Community... or any community! Your Limerick could wind up in the description of one of two in-game items!

And not just ANY items. The Tipsy Top Hat and the Orisih Tailcoat (pictured above) have never been given to any player in the history of DOFUS before this contest. The 15 winners of this contest will have the ONLY 15 instances of these items in existance at the moment!

How can you win one of these insanely rare items? Oh, it's as easy as drinking green beer! Write a limerick about DOFUS, or something in the DOFUS universe, post it here, and see if you've won!

What's a Limerick? It's a short, pithy poem with an AABBA rhyming scheme and a very distinct meter. You can hear one on this week's Inside Ankama On Air, but here's a few other examples that are not DOFUS-related to give you an idea of how it goes:

There was a young woman named Bright
Whose speed was much faster than light.
She set out one day
In a relative way,
And returned on the previous night.

I'd rather have fingers than toes
I prefer having eyes to a nose
And as for my hair
I'm glad its all there
I'll be terribly sad when it goes!

There was a young man from the Clyde
Who fell down a sewer and died
Along came his brother,
Who fell down another
And now they're interred side by side!

There must always be rules, so here are the rules for this contest:

  • You have until 10 AM (GMT+1) on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 to submit your entry.
  • All valid entries must be in the form of a Limerick. Other poetic forms will be appreciated on their own merits, but they will not be eligible for prizes.
  • Limerick entries should be about DOFUS. Entries focusing on other subjects may be applauded if they are amusing, but they will not be eligible for prizes.
  • All entries should be wholly the original work of the entrant, and should not violate any copyright or trademark rights. By submitting an entry, you are granting Ankama Games the unlimited right to use your limerick in their game, their site, and their publications, if they so desire.
  • All certain amount of wry cheekiness is expected and even encouraged in a Limerick, but any entries that violate the Terms and Conditions of DOFUS will be disqualified without notification.
  • All rulings on what does and does not violate the Terms and Conditions of DOFUS will be at the sole discretion of Ankama . These ruling are not open for debate and may not be contested.
  • You may submit more than one entry, but only one prize will be awarded per person. Yes, we will check, anyone who abuses alts may be disqualified without notice.
  • A total of 15 prizes, consisting of a Tipsy Top Hat and an Oirish Tailcoat, will be awarded to the 15 best limerick entries, as determined by a panel of judges appointed by Ankama.
  • The top two entries, as determined by a panel of judges appointed by Ankama, will be used in the English Language description of the Tipsy Top Hat and the Oirish Tailcoat.
  • If the judges determine that no entry is of fitting nature for the description of an in-game item, Ankama will not be forced to include any entries in the item texts.

That wasn't so bad, was it? Now it's all up to you!
