World of Tanks: Closed Beta Phase 1 Ends

Wargaming.net has announced that the first closed beta phase for World of Tanks has ended. The second phase of the CBT is slated to begin tomorrow, Wednesday, September 1, 2010. In addition to those two announcements, Wargaming.net gave out a bunch of impressive stats about CBT1.

Developer Diary: Volume III Book 2 Crafting Update

Book 2 is almost here, so let's talk about crafting! This update brings improvements for two more crafting professions, revisions to many older reputation recipes, a bunch of new class item recipes for Tailors, and updates for crafted Athelas Essence and Celebrant Salve potions made by Scholars.

Atlus Dissolved By Parent Company

Atlus Dissolved By Parent Company

Japan-based publisher and developer Atlus has been dissolved as an independent entity by its parent company.

Index Holdings said on its website (via Gamasutra) that it's streamlining its business to focus on "profitable core areas", and that as part of the process the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona publisher has been brought under its direct control.

Final Fantasy XIV: Open Beta Delayed

Thanks to intrepid forumite, Matheous, we have confirmed that the Final Fantasy XIV open beta scheduled to begin on September 1, 2010 has been delayed on European and North American servers. Developers are citing 'critical bugs' as the reason behind the delay.

General: Nadirim Devs Reveal Game Info

Nadirim developers have announced some of the systems to be featured in the web-based title based on the Arabian Nights. In addition to the features, devs have also profiled the Mountain of Bells zone and the Nomad, one of five classes included in the game. Nadirim is set to go into closed beta in October but devs are promising weekly game information releases.

EA sports president Peter Moore has clarified the company's position on 3D. Moore, who made the comments during an exclusive Edge interview, is cautious about rushing to use the technology for the sake of it.
