God of War III is coming out soon, and I know exactly what I want from it. And yet, the more I think about it, what I want is a little bit contradictory.
First off, I want complexity. I want Sony’s Santa Monica Studios to turn out a technological marvel. I want eye-catching textures that pedantically represent the subtle differences in various types of stone, and elegant, seamless animations that allow characters to respond believably to whatever I subject them, whether I’m slicing them in two or smacking them around with a hammer.
Games Meet Film

Walking into Theatre Seven at Pinewood Studios, there was a faint sense that we were entering an awkward high school dance. The game speakers sat on the left and the film speakers to the right, resolutely separate. And yet, there was an atmosphere of excitement. The first event of its kind, UK game trade association TIGA's Games Meet Film sought to provide a forum in which audio luminaries from both industries could meet and discuss their work and methodologies. We learned a lot from the process, but perhaps most of all that the two industries face very similar challenges.
