Sony: 250 PS2 “Greatest Hits”

As part of Sony’s PS2 price reduction announcement, the firm said that over 250 PS2 games have achieved “Greatest Hits” status to date.
To qualify as a Greatest Hit, PS2 games must have sold more than 400K copies at retail and been on the market for at least nine months. Greatest Hits games are also value-priced.
Luminary: Rise of the Goonzu: Servers Acquired by NDOORS

Sony: PS3 Will Secure Blu-ray Format

As part of Sony’s announcement today that it will be cutting the PS2’s RRP by $30, SCEA CEO Jack Tretton took a moment to make parallels between old and new.
“Just as PlayStation 2 is delivering on a 10-year lifecycle and helped expand and solidify the DVD format for home entertainment along the way,” he said, “we believe Playstation 3 offers the same promise by helping secure the Blu-ray format.”
PS2 Price Cut to $99

Sony has cut the North American retail price of the Playstation 2 by $30, giving the last-generation home console a $99 price-tag.
Sony had claimed it was going to make a major announcement this week but wouldn't specify precisely what, which in turn triggered widespread speculation that the platform holder was going to drop the RRP of the PS3.
Sony has also confirmed that the PS2 software library is still going strong, with the library expected to hit 1,900 titles this year.
