Xbox 360 Outsells Wii and PS3 in Japan

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has outsold both the PS3 and Nintendo’s Wii in Japan for the week ending Feb 22.
Xbox Sales rocketed to 25,334 units following the release of Square Enix’s Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope, which itself sold 162,232 units in its first week.
The sales surge marks the first time in weeks that the chart positions have changed.

Sony Undergoes Management Shuffle

Sony has announced that its chairman and CEO, Howard Stringer, will soon be taking on the role as company president.
Current Sony president Ryoji Chubachi will step down from the role and move to become vice chairman, still remaining a member of the board and assisting Stringer.
Welch Leaves PlayFirst

Casual game company PlayFirst, whose portfolio includes Diner Dash, is under new management.
Mari Baker will be replacing company co-founder John Welch as CEO. Welch has been a highly-visible proponent of casual and online social gaming. There's word on where he is headed.
In addition, PlayFirst announced that Jim Wandrey joined the company in late 2008 as CFO.
Baker has over 20 years experience in consumer technology, according to a press statement, working with companies such as Quicken and BabyCenter where she held top positions.
EA COO Talks Strategy for the Year Ahead

Electronic Arts wants to make sure it doesn’t repeat mistakes that it made last year.
The company has had to pay for its mistakes, caused by an overextended organization that had lost focus. The firm is in the process of laying off a grand total of 1,100 workers, and closing or consolidating studios.

THQ Nursing Wounds

THQ wants to get back on track, and it's counting on innovation, laser-like product focus and quality to make that happen, according to chief exec Brian Farrell.
The Agoura Hills, Calif.-based publisher has encountered its share of difficulties lately, recently announcing a headcount reduction of 600 workers, or 24 percent of its global workforce. The company currently employs over 1,000 people.
Now the company is eyeing profitability in the next year.
