New CEO at Runescape Dev Jagex

Cambridge, U.K.-based Runescape developer Jagex has appointed Mark Gerhard as CEO, taking the place of Geoff Iddison, who resigned last month, the company said Friday.
A press statement did not go into detail regarding the reason for Iddison's resignation, although the exec commented, "It was great to be part of a business which is shaping the industry in such a way.”
Gerhard will officially take the company's reins on February 2. He is currently serving as chief technical officer.

Kyoto-based Nintendo is riding high; so high that some are now wondering if there's nowhere else to go but down.
Company president Satoru Iwata attempted to allay concerns that Nintendo's growth has peaked, following the firm's decision this week to scale back Wii shipment forecasts and earnings projections for the current fiscal year, which caused shares to slide Friday morning.

Iwata: Third Parties Finding Wii, DS Success

This week, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata emphasized a boost in third-party software sales on typically first-party-friendly Nintendo hardware.
"Third party titles sold more [in the U.S.] on Nintendo hardware than on any other platform for two consecutive months," Iwata said in a financial presentation.
He added that as of the end of March 2008, there were only 12 third-party Wii titles with sales totaling over 1 million units. But as of December 2008, that number had jumped to 30 titles, he said.

Nintendo: 26 Games Games Break 1m

These days, Nintendo is no stranger to million-plus selling software.
Between the Wii and DS, Nintendo on Friday reported a total of 26 titles that have sold over 1 million units during the current fiscal year; the large majority well over 1 million.
Amongst non-bundled games, 2005’s Nintendogs for DS led the charge with 21.67 million units sold worldwide as of Nintendo’s fiscal Q3 ended in December.
New Super Mario Bros. from 2006 followed with 17.63 million units sold.
